On February 17th in New York City, Nicopanda pulled back the curtain and premiered its Fall/Winter 2016 collection - a cross-cultural fusion of products from apparel, accessories, jewelry, bags and eyewear.
True to nature, Nicopanda remains fiercely gender free, age-less, design rich and priced to participate.
Juxtaposition remains at the heart of Nicola Formichetti and Nicopanda’s sense of style. The clash of fantasy and function within Japanese street dressing, combining whimsical vintage pieces with contemporary streetwear staples embody this season’s mood. Flocked velvet heart hoodies, glitter bombers, mackintosh’s and vintage dresses are re-appropriated in sweat material and siren gowns merged with t-shirts showcase the high-low philosophy that underpins the brand. Print becomes an even stronger focus this season with a twist on Tromp L’Oile featuring a 3D rendering of Nicola’s own souvenir vintage Japanese bomber, created in collaboration with, jacket as an allover print on silk. Artist Sam Rolfes, was integral in creating this, and several other prints in the Fall Winter collection.
For the first time ever, the ready-to-wear collection was accented by Nicopanda World, introducing a pandacentric collection of accessories. Vibrant jeweled coloured bags, micro-accessories and jewelry are made in faux furs, alternative animal skins and industrial metal plating combine into a tangible new range of products that complement and contrast the ready-to-wear collection. Be on the look out for whats next in the world of Nicopanda!
